 The Goal of Polling Apps during ELT

In English Language Teaching (ELT) aims to foster interactive learning environments, encouraging student engagement, gauging comprehension levels, and obtaining valuable feedback.


Google Forms: A Closer Look

So, google form is kind of online software that has a function to create surveys, quizzes, and . It's also part of Google's web-based apps suite, including Google Docs, Google Sheets, Google Slides, and more. Google form has a versatile tool that can be used for various applications, from gathering RSVPs for an event to creating a pop quiz. 


Why Google Forms?

Well, I choose this app because this app is really helpful in making a question or quizzes easier or in doing a survey. Not only that, I choose Google Forms because of its accessibility, collaborative features, and seamless integration with other Google applications. If I can compare with another polling apps, unlike standalone polling apps, Google Forms offers a comprehensive ecosystem that simplifies data collection and analysis.


Advantages over Other Apps

So, one of the standout advantages is its intuitive interface, making it easy for both educators and students to create and respond to polls. It also has the ability to embed multimedia elements, such as images and videos, sets Google Forms apart, enhancing the richness of questions.


Free vs Paid Plan: Unpacking the Options

So, Google Forms has 2 models plan; free and paid plan. In free plan, Google Form operates on a freemium model, with a robust free plan offering ample features for most classroom scenarios. While in the paid plan, part of Google Workspace for Education, provides additional storage and administrative controls. Is there any crucial downside in this app? Yes, there is. The crucial downside lies in the potential limitations of the free plan for larger institutions with extensive data needs.


Practical Classroom Application

In my opinion, this app can be applied in any classroom. For example; imagine a language arts class exploring a new novel. A teacher can create a Google Form with questions assessing comprehension, opinions, and reflections. Then, Students submit responses in real-time, enabling the teacher to adapt the lesson based on immediate feedback.


In conclusion, Google Forms emerges as a powerful tool for ELT polling, offering a seamless user experience, collaborative features, and an extensive free plan. While the paid plan may be necessary for institutions with heightened data demands. Overall, versatility and ease of use make Google Forms a standout choice for educators looking to enhance their teaching methodologies.
